movement is pivotal.
Movement goals look different for everyone. You may be wanting to improve your balance to continue to participate in the recreational activities you love. You may be wanting to work on walking again after a serious accident or following a neurological diagnosis. You may be wanting to improve your independence with moving around your home or completing your daily activities. We believe movement is pivotal, in whatever way is meaningful for you.
We develop rehabilitation treatment plans that focus on practical tasks and activities that are important to you. Each treatment plan is personalized based on your specific interests and movement goals. By focusing on these types of activities in a home and community setting, rehabilitation can be fun, playful, and effective.
Functional Movement
Rather than standard strengthening and stretching, we like to focus on functional movement and activities in our treatment sessions. We want to pick tasks or activities that are important and motivating to you. We modify the task, environment, or our hands-on support in order to address challenges you may have with a particular activity. This allows you to gain strength, mobility, and confidence with movement that is important to you.
Making Rehab Fun
We love to make the journey of working towards your goals fun. By meeting in your home or out in the community we are able to incorporate some elements of play into our treatment sessions. Client sessions can be held at home, in the backyard, at a recreational centre, or outdoors. In the community setting, we’re able to include family members, caregivers, and pets in our sessions.
Lifelong Learning
We’re committed to being up to date with current research and best practice. It is important to us that we continue to expand our knowledge in order to provide the best care for our clients. Additionally, we value sharing knowledge through mentorship and education of students and new rehabilitation professionals.
Collaboration
We value collaboration and a team approach when it comes to the care of our clients. In order to provide holistic client-centered care, we believe in a inter-disciplinary plan of care. Additionally, we believe in collaboration with our clients as we work toward their goals as a team.
